33 Percent of Millburn Voters Turn Out for Election Day, Naming Dems to Township Committee
Cheryl Burstein and Mayor Robert Tillotson were elected yesterday. Here's a round up of Millburn, Essex County, and state senate elections.

Approximately 33.43 percent of Millburn voters cast a ballot yesterday, electing Democrats Democrat Cheryl Burstein and Republican Mayor Robert Tillotson to the Township Committee seats, according to the Essex County Clerk’s Office.
Cheryl Burstein had the most votes with 25.87 percent of the vote. It was a tight race, with less than 100 votes separating the second seat winner Robert Tillotson from runner up Democrat Stephen Thomas. Republican Matthew Lipp had the least votes with only 24.56 percent of the vote.
Richard Gray, Regina Truitt, and Jesse Liu were elected the new Millburn Board of Education representatives this evening, with 19.63, 19.49, and 17.11 percent of the vote, respectively.

County and State Elections
In Essex County, only 29 percent of registered voters countywide made it to the polls -- just 135,243 out a registered 488,341 voters in Essex.

76.95 percent of Essex County voters chose Democrat Cory Booker for Senate over Jeff Bell, the Republican opposition. However, nationwide, the Republicans captured the Senate.
With 51.73 percent of the vote in Essex County, Republican Rodney P. Frelinghuysen retained his seat as Congressional Representative, defeating Livingston resident, Democrat Mark Dunec by 1,551 votes countywide.
With a whopping 76.67 percent of the vote in Essex County, Joseph N. DiVincenzo Jr. was reinstated as County Executive, defeating Republican challenger Peter H. Tanella. The Democrats also swept the Essex County Freeholders elections.
