Candidates quick to cast blame

Serruto and Heinrich won't or can't acknowledge back story

Clearly constituents of both party candidates oppose further development in Millburn Township. Most are highly aggrieved by what has already come to pass.

Predictably, this major platform for candidates, Serruto and Heinrichs, would point fingers at the Democrat incumbents as solely responsible and incompetent.

What they don’t seem to know, or won’t acknowledge, is all that preceded today’s circumstances.

The Mount Laurel decision (Southern Burlington NAACP v Mount Laurel Township) occurred over forty years ago. Millburn’s dominate party from then through the next thirty years, were Republicans. They ‘kicked the can down the road’ until the unsatisfied mandate would no longer be ignored.

The Coalition for Affordable Housing began unyieldingly to flex its authority in Millburn until ultimately, a punitive judge cast the drastic charge for the unwanted development.

Yet, we haven’t heard one syllable from Serruto or Heinrichs regarding onus on the Republicans’ lack of compliance or the court’s vindictive verdict behind Millburn’s loss of autonomy.

It was predictable that new candidates will insist that they can do better than the incumbents, but can they when they are inexperienced and don’t seem to know what they are up against……they were determined to just point a finger at Democrats, and chant the mantra, “we can do better.”

Never has it been more important to have the experienced leaders at the helm- -Annette Romano & Michael Cohen. The choice is clear.
