Concert In Millburn Postponed As NWS Extends Essex County 'Heat Advisory' To Sunday

MILLBURN, NJ — In response to the local heat wave this week — and the National Weather Service extending the heat advisory for Essex County through Sunday — Millburn has postponed an outdoor concert scheduled for Thursday.

Towns around the area have canceled events and encouraged residents to check on neighbors, the elderly, children, and pets for signs of heat stroke.

The National Weather Service forecast for Essex County says that temperatures will be in the 90s at least through the weekend.

But the heat index values could climb as high as 103 on Thursday and up to 105 on Sunday, the NWS said. See the forecast here.

The town of Millburn announced that the summer concert in Taylor Park featuring "Enjoy!" scheduled for Thursday, July 21, has been postponed due to the heat advisory. It will be rescheduled for Thursday, July 28, 7 p.m.

However, the Millburn Library reminded residents, via Twitter, "The library is open and cool. Stop by and see us."
