'Damaging' Winds Predicted For Millburn Area Into Friday
Wind gusts as high as 48 miles per hour are expected overnight in Essex County. A wind advisory is in effect until Friday at 10 a.m.

MILLBURN, NJ — The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Essex County through 10 a.m. Friday morning, expecting gusts of up to 48 miles per hour and possible thunderstorms.
The forecast for the Millburn area is:
Overnight Into Friday: Rain, with thunderstorms also possible after 1 a.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 48. Breezy, with a south wind 16 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 48 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Friday: A 20 percent chance of showers before 10 a.m. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a temperature falling to around 35 by 5 p.m. Breezy, with a northwest wind 15 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph.
A map posted by the National Weather Service shows potential gusts of 46 miles per
hour near Morristown, 49 near Newark, and stronger gusts along the shore.

The NWS warns: "Strong winds will blow around unsecured objects. Scattered tree limbs, and a few trees and power lines could be blown down. A few power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles."
They advise, "Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects."
