Electric Supply Contract Ending: What To Know In Millburn
Electric supply service will revert back to JCP&L's basic generation service. Here's what to know about the change, Millburn officials say.
MILLBURN, NJ — The Township of Millburn issued an advisory on Monday for residents who have opted-in to get their electricity supply from IDT Energy through the Hunterdon Area Energy Cooperative’s (HAEC) Government Energy Aggregation Program.
The Township of Millburn previously took steps to join the HAEC program for the town’s residential account holders with JCP&L. The primary goals of the program were to provide annual savings and rate stability for participating consumers – while including a higher percentage of green renewable energy.

“Be advised, the Hunterdon Area Energy Cooperative’s (HAEC) Government Energy Aggregation Program will soon be coming to an end following a 15-month contract that began on Sept. 1, 2024. The contract that the HAEC has with IDT Energy Inc. to furnish the electric supply through the Community Energy Aggregation Program is ending on the first scheduled meter-reading date after Dec. 2, 2025.”
Here's what happens next, Millburn town administrators said:
“Electric supply service will revert back to Jersey Central Power & Light’s (JCP&L’s) Basic Generation Service with the next meter reading after Dec. 2, 2025. No action is required and electric service will continue uninterrupted.”
Millburn officials said a notice was sent to residents who are currently opted-in to receiving their electricity supply from IDT Energy through the HAEC Government Energy Aggregation Program.

Residents can call New Jersey Aggregation’s customer care team at 866-688-5197 and select option 3, or visit https://njaggregation.us/haec/ for more information.
Residents are still able to solicit a third-party supplier individually by reaching out directly to suppliers, Millburn’s advisory said.
JCP&L’s Basic Generation Service Details (as of November 12, 2025)
- Provides the minimum New Jersey renewable energy requirements
- Residential: 15.6029 ¢/kWh (price at the time of auction)
- Electricity supplier, electric utility and bill all run through JCP&L
- Financial assistance is available
