Essex County Woman, Dorothy Wiessel, Dies At 105
She was born in Newark in 1917 and lived through two pandemics, passing away the first week of 2023.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Dorothy Marie Wiessel, 105, of Mt. Laurel, passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 3, 2023.
She was born Oct. 8, 1917 in Newark to the late Harry and Mary Engle, and had resided in Red Bank before her current residence of over 25 years in Mt. Laurel.
She worked as a sales associate at May Department Stores for many years before her retirement.

In her free time, Dorothy enjoyed watching baseball games and going to watch shows on Broadway.
Above all else, though, Dorothy loved spending time with her family.

Dorothy is predeceased by her husband, George J. Wiessel, Sr.; and brother Harry Engle. She is
survived by her sons, George Wiessel, Jr., and Craig Wiessel, Sr.; and grandchildren, Craig
Wiessel, Jr., Jack Wiessel, and Emily.
Services Friday And Saturday
Relatives and friends are welcome to her viewing on Friday, Jan. 6 from 6-8 p.m., and her service immediately following at 8 p.m. Both will be held at Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, NJ 08054. Then, interment will be on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023 at 10:30 a.m., at Restland Memorial Park, 77 Deforest Ave., East Hanover, NJ 07936.
