Health Department To Offer Free Hepatitis B And C Screening

Free screenings will be offered March 28 at the Livingston Senior/Community Center.

The Livingston Health Department, in conjunction with Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center: Center for Asian Health, will offer a free Hepatitis B and C screening on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 5:00pm-7:00pm. The screening will be at the Livingston Senior/Community Center, 204 Hillside Ave, Livingston on the first floor in Tahaney Room 1. Additionally, a free blood pressure screening will be offered during the hepatitis b and c screening.

Many people with hepatitis b and c have no symptoms and are unaware of their status. Hepatitis b and c can lead to liver damage and liver cancer, especially when left untreated. The earlier hepatitis b and c can be detected; the sooner treatment and follow up care can begin. With early detection and prompt treatment, cirrhosis and liver cancer can be prevented.
