Local Justice: Decisions in Municipal Court

The Municipal Court handled 6 cases, including one case involving three defendants for criminal mischief.

In State v. Renchinorov Tuvshinbo, State v. Harold Meyers-Batista, and State v. Aref Rajaeidehkordi, all of Millburn, the State charged each of the three defendants with criminal mischief for egging cars.  They pleaded guilty to the charge.  The Court imposed a fine of $100,  $33 in court costs, a $50 VCCO (Victims of Crime Compensation Office) penalty and a $75 safe neighborhood fee.

In State v. Dore Williams of Newark, the State charged defendant with two separate offense: shoplifting from Bloomingdale's and having a shoplifting device.  Defendant pleaded guilty to both charges.  On the first offense, the Court sentenced her to 90 days in jail (because she already has three prior convictions), and imposed a fine of $1,000, as well as $33 in court costs, a $50 VCCO penalty and a $75 safe neighborhood fee.  On the second offense, the Court imposed a fine of $300, as well as $33 in court costs, a $50 VCCO penalty and a $75 safe neighborhood fee.  The Court also ordered defendant not to return to Bloomingdale's for two years; and, if she violates that order, she could face criminal trespass charges.

In State v. Jeffrey Baptiste of East Orange, the State charged defendant with theft by deception from Bloomingdale's.  Defendant pleaded guilty to the charge.  The Court imposed a fine of 300, $33 in court costs, a $50 VCCO penalty and a $75 safe neighborhood fee.  The Court also ordered defendant not to return to Bloomingdale's for two years; and, if he violates that order, he could face criminal trespass charges.
