Longtime Doctor In Millburn Dies At 65

He followed the Grateful Dead, served as an archaeologist, then worked as an optometrist in Millburn for decades.

MILLBURN, NJ — Not many people can say they followed the Grateful Dead, worked as an archaeologist, then shifted to a career as an eye doctor — but a local man who recently passed away has an unusually diverse resume.

Dr. Vincent John McGlone of Bernardsville, an optometrist in Millburn for 30 years, died last Thursday at age 65. A memorial service and luncheon will be held Jan. 7.

According to his obituary, McGlone graduated from high school in Alexandria, Va. in the early 1970s, then got his degrees in anthropology and geology from the University of Colorado Boulder.
