“Fire crews observed visible smoke and fire from apartment 1B, and the first due engine company stretched a 1 3⁄4” inch hose-line to locate and extinguish the fire. Primary searches were completed in the apartment, and it was determined that no one was inside. Searches for nearby apartments were also negative for occupants. The fire was knocked down at 10:53 p.m. A primary water source was established. Fire crews checked for extension in the attic and nearby apartments, containing the fire to the room and the contents of apartment 1B. All residents in the unit needed to be relocated to stay with friends and family due to the heavy odor of smoke. The unit was checked for levels of carbon monoxide, a byproduct of combustion, and all readings were precise with no detectable levels.”
