Millburn Intersection Will Get New Lane And Traffic Signal

An intersection in Millburn will be widened with a new lane, and ultimately a new traffic signal, added. The first phase will start Monday.

MILLBURN, NJ — The county of Essex will begin a road project in Millburn on Monday that will ultimately result in a wider roadway, a new left turn lane, and new traffic signal equipment.

The work will take place at the intersection of Hobart Gap Road/White Oak Ridge Road and Hobart Avenue.

Phase 1 will begin Aug. 1 with excavation and utility work, and is estimated to last four weeks, the town of Millburn said.

However, due to supply chain issues, a delay of about four months is expected before the traffic signal equipment can be installed.

The town said, "Essex County is the lead agency on this project, which includes the signalization of the intersection, widening of the roadway to add a left turn lane onto Hobart Avenue from southbound White Oak Ridge Road, the installation of a new crosswalk, and curb work."

Road closures are not anticipated at this time, but disruptions may occur as lanes are closed intermittently due to construction, the town said.

Traffic controls will be in place. We appreciate your patience as we work to enhance the flow of traffic and improve safety.
