Millburn Updates Messages As Storm Ian Will Bring Wind Gusts, Inch Of Rain
The town of Millburn released a new statement on Hurricane Ian as forecasters expect 30 m.p.h. winds and more than 1 inch of rain.
MILLBURN, NJ — The latest forecast for the Millburn area shows that more than an inch of rain could fall throughout Saturday, with wind gusts as high as 30 m.p.h. on Sunday.
Major activities planned around the area this weekend have already been postponed.
A storm that weakens over land can still bring heavy wind and rain, seen with the fatal Tropical Depression Ida only one year ago.

The Township of Millburn said on Friday:
"Millburn Township is currently monitoring Hurricane Ian’s trajectory and any potential impact this storm may have to our area.

"The National Weather Service anticipates 1.5 inches of rainfall through tonight and early into Saturday morning. Please continue to monitor your preferred weather stations and check out the township website for resources on flooding. https://www.twp.millburn.nj.us/690/Flooding."
A potential rainfall map from the National Hurricane Center for the next three days stretches to the New York City area. And the flash flood potential map extends to the New York City area.
The local National Weather Service forecast says:
Saturday: Rain likely, mainly after 8 a.m. Cloudy, with a high near 59. Northeast wind 8
to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Saturday Night: Rain likely, mainly before 2 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 53. Northeast wind 8 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Sunday: A chance of rain before 8 a.m., then a chance of showers after 8 a.m. Mostly
cloudy, with a high near 61. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
