Millburn's Public Schools Get High Marks In New NJ School Ratings

Each Millburn public school got a cumulative rating based on scores during the last (2021-2022) school year. See how they compare below.

MILLBURN, NJ — How well are students recovering after returning to school buildings post-pandemic?

The state of New Jersey just released a score for each public school (including charter schools) in each town in New Jersey, based on test scores from the last (2021-2022) school year, including in Millburn.

New Jersey has 2,364 public schools serving the 1.4 million students.

Along with the school performance reports released the first week of April are school-by-school summative scores and ratings, which compares district and also gives a number score that measures how well each school is doing in academic achievement and progress.

New Jersey also identifies schools which need support with its ESSA accountability system.

Some schools were left out because there was not enough data, and schools only going up to third grade were left off the list.

The scores were established to comply with the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA),
which replaced the No Child Left Behind Act.

Qualifications

The NJ Department of Education looks at the graduation rates, absenteeism, language proficiency, math proficiency, and growth in both. The department also looks at data by various categories, such as economics, race, percent of students receiving special education.

Top performers

Public schools with the highest scores in New Jersey, according to DOE reports, were:

  • Luther Lee Elementary (Demarest School District, Bergen Co.): 97.95
  • Torey J. Sabatini School (Madison Public SD, Morris Co.): 97.69
  • Monmouth County Academy of Allied Health and Science (Monmouth County Vocational SD): 97.23
  • High Technology High School (Monmouth County Vocational SD): 97.38
  • Edison Academy Magnet School (Middlesex County Vocational and Technical SD): 97.08
