MILLBURN, NJ — This Friday's morning and evening commutes could be slippery if a prediction for "several hours of freezing rain, sleet, and snow" Thursday into Friday bears out. What's more, in an area that experienced flooding last year, three quarters to one inch of rain are forecast for Thursday night.

A hazardous weather outlook for Essex County from the National Weather Service says:

"Rain Thursday night will change to a wintry mix from northwest to southeast, with several hours of freezing rain, sleet, and snow. This will lead to ice accretion on any untreated surfaces, making travel hazardous potentially for both the morning and evening commutes on Friday. Additionally, any standing water from rainfall and melting snow will freeze, exacerbating these conditions."
