MILLBURN, NJ -- A "shelter in place" has been lifted at two Millburn schools after police activity on Monday.

The Millburn Public School District issued an advisory about the situation:

"At approximately 4 p.m., at the direction of the Millburn Police Department, the high school and Washington School were advised to shelter in place due to police activity in the neighborhood. Police were checking out an unspecified, and ultimately unfounded, report in the area. Students and staff who were involved in after-school activities were able to continue. By 4:30, the shelter in place was lifted."

"Thanks to everyone present for their cooperation and to the Millburn PD for their vigilance," school administrators said.
