Steve Fulop THE Choice for NJ Govenor

Former Millburn Mayor endorses Steve Fulop for NJ Governor

I proudly support Steve Fulop for Governor of New Jersey.

As a former Mayor of Millburn, I understand the importance of leadership that truly connects with people. Local leaders don’t hide. You see your neighbors at the grocery store, in restaurants, and at school events. You hear their concerns firsthand—and that is how you begin to understand the real issues affecting their daily lives.

One of the most urgent challenges we face is housing. New Jersey, like many neighboring states, is experiencing a severe housing shortage. In towns like Millburn—a major commuter hub—this problem is compounded by unreliable NJ Transit service. When transit goes down, our residents, including students commuting to places like Seton Hall Prep or New York City, are stranded. NJ Transit must be funded through a mix of fares, taxes, tolls, and federal and state grants. Fares alone cannot sustain the system, yet our transit workers deserve fair wages.

But not everyone takes the train. That’s why it’s unfair and unrealistic for COAH and Fair Share Housing to push the bulk of new housing near NJ Transit stations. This overconcentration is unsustainable for small towns like ours. Housing must be distributed more equitably across the state, and Steve Fulop understands that. He recognizes that giving developers too much influence undermines our communities and our democracy. We need a governor who is independent from party bosses and donor pressure—Steve is that candidate.

Fair Share Housing must be rethought. Urban centers should bear a greater share, and housing plans should reflect the diversity of our communities—not be dictated by one-size-fits-all mandates. A 100% affordable housing development in Millburn is no more appropriate than the outdated 20% affordable set-aside model. We need balanced, thoughtful solutions.

We cannot return to the status quo. We must not elect party-line candidates whose loyalties lie with political insiders rather than the people of New Jersey.

We must keep New Jersey a Democratic state—protecting women’s healthcare and choice, ensuring safety and education for all, and embracing alternatives to traditional four-year college paths.

This is a big job, and Steve Fulop is up to the task.
