SHORT HILLS, NJ — A group of theft suspects discharged a fire extinguisher at a store security officer in the Short Hills Mall before making their getaway on Monday, authorities said.

The Millburn Police Department released the following details about the incident:

“On June 10, Millburn police responded to Chanel at the Short Hills Mall on a report of a theft in progress. The five subjects entered the store wearing surgical masks and gloves. One of the suspects discharged a fire extinguisher at the store security officer, while the other four suspects ran through the store, stealing merchandise.”

All suspects then fled the scene in an awaiting vehicle, police said. No additional details were immediately available.
