What To Do About Flooding In Millburn? Meetings About Varous Neighborhoods Will Be Zoomed
An extreme storm in 2021 took lives in Essex County and destroyed businesses. What will Millburn do about flooding in each neighborhood?

MILLBURN, NJ — The storm that flooded businesses in Millburn and took lives in nearby towns in August 2021 wasn't even a hurricane or tropical storm.
In fact, by the time Ida hit Essex County, it had been downgraded to Tropical Depression Ida. Yet, more than 5 inches of rain fell so quickly on that late August evening that rivers overran their banks. Nearby, in Maplewood, a man died after he went outside to clear storm drains.
The Millburn Flood Mitigation Advisory Committee has been meeting since then, and just approved a new schedule of meetings — each addressing a specific topic or part of town. The public can join them online.
