$128K Grant to Assist Low-Income Residents in 3 Essex Towns

A Community Services Block Grant will provide low-income residents of three Essex County towns emergency services and various programs.

A $128,000 grant will provide low-income residents of three Essex County towns with emergency services and various other programs.

The grant, totaling $128,505.50, was awarded to the Montclair Neighborhood Development Corporation by the County Community Services Block, according to nj.com. The grant will assist low-income residents of Montclair, Bloomfield and Belleville.

Essex County Freeholder Brendan Gill said the grant money will fund employment counseling and placement programs, education and career training, housing assistance, food, youth services, advocacy and emergency assistance, nj.com reported.

“These critical funds will go a long way towards providing the most vulnerable amongst us the resources they need,” Gill said in a statement. “The services provided through this grant are key to our economic recovery and essential to preserving the core of our communities and neighborhoods.”
