2 Buildings Damaged In Montclair: Attempted Burglary, Criminal Mischief
MPD: A shoe print was found on a shattered-but-intact glass door. Someone apparently tried to cut a door latch with an angle grinder.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Two buildings in Montclair were damaged last week during a possible burglary attempt and an incident of “criminal mischief,” police announced Tuesday.
The Montclair Police Department released the following details about each incident:
Attempted Burglary – Oct. 2 (Lackawanna Plaza): “The property manager of a building under renovation reported that the latch to a double entryway was damaged. It displayed damage that is consistent with what an angle grinder would make if someone was attempting to cut the latch while the doors were closed. It was unknown if the suspect(s) gained entry. Nothing was reported missing.”

Criminal Mischief – Oct. 3 (Bloomfield Avenue): “Officers responded to an alarm activation at Rao's Specialty Foods. While ensuring the perimeter was secured, it was discovered that the side glass door on the south side of the building was shattered but intact. The door appeared to be kicked as there was a shoe print over the point of impact. The remainder of the exterior doors and windows were undamaged and secured.”
