5 Montclair Nonprofits To Support This Holiday Season

MONTCLAIR, NJ— If you’re like many of your Montclair neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.

Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.

Maintaining funding is a constant challenge for many nonprofits that fill gaps and meet other needs in the Montclair area.

Here is a short list of local nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday (although there are many more that also deserve highlighting!)

YMCA OF MONTCLAIR - The YMCA of Montclair operates three branches— Park Street YMCA, Geyer Family YMCA, and YMCA Outdoor Education Center—serving over 13,500 members. Membership is open to all, with financial assistance available to those who live in our service area (Bloomfield, Bloomingdale, Clifton, Cedar Grove, Glen Ridge, Haskell, Hewitt, Montclair, Verona, Wanaque, and West Milford) with demonstrated financial need. MONTCLAIR AMBULANCE UNIT - With ambulances manned and ready, the MAU responds to over 3,200 medical emergencies, mutual aid calls to surrounding towns (when available), and working fires supporting the Montclair Fire Department. Learn more about this local nonprofit here.
