Montclair's Secret Garden in Full Boom
The Avis Campbell Memorial Gardens are tucked away on South Fullerton Avenue.
Montclair is well-known for the Presby Memorial Iris Gardens where thousands of varieties bloom each spring on well-traveled Upper Mountain Avenue.
Another garden across town — the Avis Campbell Memorial Gardens — is a hidden gem.
Tucked away behind the Social Services Building at 60 South Fullerton Ave., right next door to the Montclair Main Public Library, the garden is open to the public and maintained by the Garden Club of Montclair.
A working fountain is the focal point, and from the fountain extend brick paths lined with perennials.
Bring your lunch — and a camera — and enjoy a respite from nearby Montclair Center before the summer's end.
