Assembly Transportation Committee Meets At Montclair University

The Committee seeks more responsible, sustainable spending on transit improvements. They heard testimony from experts and from the public.

The New Jersey Assembly Transportation and Independent Authorities held their first hearing on New Jersey’s transportation funding crisis today at Montclair University.

The committee heard testimony from transportation experts and from the public, concerning the depletion of the Transportation Trust Fund, which is meant to fund road and transit projects.

However the assembly remains hopeful for successful reform and sustainable funding.

“Part of what has to happen is making sure that can’t be overspent in a year,” said John S. Wisniewski, Committee Chair. “There’s always an impassioned argument as to why we need to do this now, why we need to spend today.”

More hearings are planned for in the upcoming months.
