Back To School In Montclair: New Traffic Patterns During Pick-Up, Drop-Off Times
Here are some back-to-school updates for Montclair drivers to be aware of.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Some new traffic patterns are launching in Montclair as local students return for a fresh school year.
The Township of Montclair posted the following advisory on Friday:
Please be advised of upcoming changes to traffic patterns and safety improvements in Montclair’s school zones. These updates are the result of extensive collaboration between the township, school officials, and the Montclair Vision Zero Task Force to improve safety during school pick-up and drop-off times.

Temporary One-Way Streets (School Days Only):
- Bradford School: College Avenue (from Mount Hebron to Brainard Avenue) will operate one-way northbound from 8:30–9:30 AM and 2:30–3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Deron School: Christopher Street (from Walnut Street to Oxford Avenue) will operate one-way northbound from 8:00–9:30 AM and 2:30–3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
School Zone Striping (September 8–11, 2025):

Contractors will be striping crosswalks and school safety markings on the following streets. Work will be completed one street at a time. While not all streets will be closed at once, please anticipate delays and plan alternate routes as needed:
- Label Street
- Montclair Avenue
- Chestnut Street
- Oxford Street
- Walnut Street
- Walnut Crescent
- Greenwood Avenue
- Cambridge Road
- Tremont Place
