Bivio Reborn: Montclair Pizzeria Will Reopen Under New Owner

MONTCLAIR, NJ — In the words of a famous Montclair resident: “It ain't over till it's over.”

Bivio Pizzeria Napoletana – a well-known restaurant in Montclair that closed its doors in 2022 – is reopening under a new owner, according to a social media post. A soft reopening will take place at 107 Pine Street from 5:30 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19 and Saturday, Jan. 20.

And yes, the ingredients its customers came to love will remain the same, its new owner says:

“We spent some time with chef Tommaso to reorganize and offer you the authentic pizza napoletana. Be assured that Bivio will continue using the highest quality ingredients imported from Italy and fresh local. Our dough is still crafted with the original 27-year-old ‘lievito madre’ natural yeast culture (known as la bambina) and finest Italian 00 flours. Presently we are accepting reservations on OpenTable and are waiting for you to come and enjoy the same great flavors as you did before. Stay tuned through Intagram as we navigate our new journey. As the new owner of Bivio I look forward to meeting you. Davide, la bambina and staff @ Bivio Pizza Napoletana”

Former owner Tomasso Colao and his wife, Jackie, opened Bivio in 2011 in Little Falls, closed it in 2015, and then later reopened in Montclair with a smaller menu. News of the local restaurant’s rebirth has seen enthusiasm from some local foodies.

“This is the best news of 2024!” a pizza fan gushed on Bivio’s recent Instagram post.
