Car Flips In Montclair, Firefighters Rescue Trapped Occupant

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A vehicle overturned last week in Montclair and trapped someone inside, requiring a rescue effort from local firefighters, authorities said Wednesday.

According to the Montclair Fire Department, the crash took place at Grove Street and Alexander Avenue on Oct. 25. Here’s what firefighters encountered when they arrived at the scene:

“Upon arrival, MFD members found an overturned vehicle with one victim still entrapped inside. The vehicle was positioned up against a tree after striking a parked vehicle and the front porch of nearby home.”

Montclair Fire Chief Robert Duncan said that firefighters used specialized rescue equipment – including struts, chain and extrication tools – to help get the trapped person out of the car.

Emergency responders transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment, authorities said.
