Essex Man Victim of Strong-Arm Robbery in Montclair Parking Structure

Police report a Bloomfield man was the victim of a robbery Tuesday afternoon.

A Bloomfield man was the victim in a strong-arm robbery in a Montclair parking structure earlier this week, according to police.

The robbery occurred in the Mountainside Hospital parking structure on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 26, according to Montclair Police. As the victim walked to his vehicle shortly before 4 p.m., he was approached by a male suspect who allegedly stated, “I don’t want to hurt you, I just need cash,” police said.

The victim gave the male suspect approximately $70 in cash and the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction, police said.

The suspect was described as a white male, between 25 and 35 years of age, 5-feet-9-inches to 5-feet-11-inches tall, and wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt and dark gray scarf over his face.

Police report the suspect never brandished a weapon. No injuries were reported.
