Gas Lamp Players Presents A Christmas Story, The Musical
A Heartwarming Holiday Classic Comes to Life on Stage

Glen Ridge, NJ (November 2025) – Gas Lamp Players will kick off the holiday season with a “bang” with its upcoming production of A Christmas Story, The Musical. This holiday favorite is based on the beloved 1983 film and tells the story of young Ralphie on his spirited quest for an “An Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-Shot Range Model Air Rifle.” The show features all the memorable moments fans love from the leg lamp to the pink bunny suit.
This four-show production will take place on Friday, December 5th at 7 p.m., Saturday, December 6th at 1 p.m. & 7 p.m., and Sunday, December 7th at 1 p.m. at the Ridgewood Avenue School Auditorium in Glen Ridge, NJ.

This multi-community event features a talented cast of young performers and adults from Glen Ridge, Montclair, Bloomfield, Clifton, Belleville, Verona, and West Orange. Audiences will enjoy high-energy choreography, colorful costumes, and a nostalgic set that evokes the warmth of a 1940s Christmas. The delightfully versatile score ranges from gentle ballads to show-stopping full-ensemble numbers such as "Ralphie to the Rescue!", "A Major Award," "Sticky Situation," "Up on Santa's Lap," "Somewhere Hovering Over Indiana" and the inevitable "You'll Shoot Your Eye Out!" A Christmas Story, The Musical will bring an exciting new dimension to those who have seen the movie and will certainly stand on its own for those who haven't.
The show’s creative team includes director Stephen Buntrock; guest director Erin Dilly (who originated the role of Mother in the Broadway production); and youth director Heather Ballantyne.
