MONTCLAIR, NJ — A series of home burglaries and attempted burglaries recently took place in Montclair, police announced Tuesday.

The Montclair Police Department released the following details about the incidents:

November 21 (Francis Place) – “At approximately 5:17 a.m., patrol units responded to a burglary that had just occurred. Victims reported after hearing commotion on the first floor, items slamming around, and footsteps, they went downstairs to further investigate and observed the front door wide open. It was learned that two vehicles were missing from the driveway. During a canvas of the area, one vehicle was located on Bloomfield Avenue, near Francis Place. The second vehicle was later recovered in Newark.”

November 22 (Russell Terrace) – “At approximately 2:30 a.m., the victim received an alert from their security system that motion was detected at their side door. When the homeowner went downstairs, she observed an individual peering through the kitchen window, possibly carrying a crowbar. The suspect ultimately fled after being scared off. The suspect was described as a male, dressed in a dark colored tracksuit, ski-mask, beanie, gloves, and New Balance sneakers.”

November 22 (Plymouth Street) – “The victim reported seeing two broken windows on the first floor of his residence. After reviewing camera footage, an unknown individual was seen walking up his driveway at 1:17 a.m. A short time later, an individual returns at approximately 2:17 a.m. with a black metal rod in his hand. The actor was unsuccessful at gaining entry inside the residence. The suspect can be described at a male, wearing a black winter hat, black mask, black Nike Tech sweatshirt, and gray sweatpants.”

November 24 (Upper Mountain Avenue) – “At approximately 10:59 p.m., units were dispatched to burglary in progress. The victims reported observing an unknown individual inside the second floor of their residence. A check of the interior yielded negative results. The actor(s) stole a Google camera, valued at $350.”
