Joyce Carol Oates Will Speak in South Orange
Seton Hall University hosts the noted writer on Oct. 4
Mark your calendars now -- and I know at least one South Orange and one Maplewood resident who already did -- for Joyce Carol Oates. Two reading remain this fall in Seton Hall's Poetry in the Round Reading Series.
Events are free and open to the public. The schedule is provided, and the series organized by Nathan Oates, Assistant Professor of Creative Writing, Director of Creative Writing and Director of Poetry-in-the-Round.
Tuesday, Oct. 4th, 7 p.m., Jubilee Hall Auditorium, Joyce Carol Oates will read. This is Seton Hall's Giroux Reader for the 2011-2012 year.

Oates has won the National Book Award for her book "Them," as well as being nominated for the Pulitzer Prize three times. Oates was awarded the National Humanities Medal by President Obama in 2010.
Wednesday, Nov. 9th, 7 p.m., Walsh Gallery, fiction writer Gary Shteyngart reads. Gary Shteyngart is a New York Times bestselling author of "The Russian Debutante's Handbook," "Absurdistan" and most recently, "Super Sad True Love Story."
