Formall leaf collection in the township ends on Dec. 19. Leaves may be picked up at random through January, weather permitting.

Formal fall leaf collection in Montclair will end on Dec. 19. However, the township notes that leaf bags will continue to be collected through January, weather permitting, but only if they are placed in bags at the curb.

Leaves have been collected throughout the season in bags on weekly recycling days. After Dec. 19, leaf collection will be more random. Leaves may not be picked up weekly, and they may not be picked up on the recycling day.

“In the event of snow, leaf bags should not be left in the street,” Montclair Township Communications Director Katya Wowk.

noted. “They should be brought in from the curb and replaced after the snow cleanup has been completed.”

The Department of Community Services (DCS) suggests that residents who place leaf bags at the curb after Dec. 19 call the DCS office at 973-509-5711, the township noted. Although this is not required, it may expedite the collection, since crews may not make complete rounds regularly throughout the town.
