‘Little Read’ Event Will Return To Montclair Library For 2024

MONTCLAIR, NJ — The following news release comes courtesy of the Montclair Public Library. Find out how to post announcements or events to your local Patch site.

The Montclair Public Library invites the community to attend the 16th annual “Little Read,” a series of events in which guest readers—including Mayor Renee Baskerville on Friday, Oct. 25—will climb into the iconic big red chair and read stories aloud to schoolchildren and families. This celebration of literacy encourages sharing stories, building community, and cultivating a love of reading. Funds raised through sponsorships, organized by the Montclair Public Library Foundation, support children’s programming at the library throughout the year, including the Summer Reading program.

The Little Read begins with visits to the library by local schoolchildren and culminates in the following events, which are free and open to the public.

Thursday, October 24

• Little Read Storytime in the Parks
• 10:30 a.m., Brookdale Park Playground
• 3:45 p.m., Nishuane Park Playground
• Weather permitting. Registration not required, but recommended.

Friday, October 25

• Little Read Storytime with Mayor Renee Baskerville
• 4:30 p.m., Main Library, 50 S. Fullerton Avenue
• Registration not required, but recommended.

Saturday, October 26

• Little Read & Treat
• 2-4 p.m., Main Library, 50 S. Fullerton Avenue
• Enjoy a haunted house, Halloween bingo, spooky stories, and more. Registration not required, but recommended.
