Living Green: Learn About ‘Home Weatherproofing’ In Montclair

On Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 6:30 p.m., the Montclair Public Library will host the latest installment of its popular Living Green program series, Home Weatherproofing 101, co-presented by Montclair Climate Action. Come learn about energy audits, reinforcing your home’s “heat envelope” and other ways to weatherproof your house. Experts and local homeowners will also explain environmental benefits and new financial incentives. A question and answer period will follow. Register at bit.ly/Weatherproofing101

Home Weatherproofing 101 is the most recent addition to the “Living Green” series that keeps conservation-minded consumers up to date on home and garden improvement techniques. In March, Deb Ellis of the Native Plant Society of NJ will present Native Plants and Organic Gardening 101; in May, Montclair Climate Action and Walk/Bike Montclair will present Active Transportation 101, which will cover walking, biking and electric bicycles.

“We are committed to promoting all aspects of sustainability at the library," says Library Director Janet Torsney. "The Living Green series enables us to bring together local experts and residents to make a better Montclair. Join us!"

Montclair Climate Action is a group of local residents that formed out of concern over the climate crisis, but also a faith that Montclair can become a leader in its response to the climate crisis. They work with the township government to promote policies that will drive the transition to renewable energy, such as adoption of town-wide renewable energy, town-wide composting, and purchasing of electric vehicles. MCA also works with the public to increase support for these policies and to encourage residents to do what they can for themselves, whether that is reducing waste, buying renewable energy, or taking public transportation. Through systemic change, MCA hopes to create a Montclair and a world where we can all live in a way that leaves a better world for our children and grandchildren.

Founded in 1893, the Montclair Public Library serves the residents of Montclair, New Jersey. It has two facilities: the Main Library at 50 S. Fullerton Avenue and the Bellevue Avenue Branch Library at 185 Bellevue Avenue.
