Montclair Bids Farewell to Outgoing School Board Members

Allen-McMillan and Wilson served Montclair Board of Education for three and nine years respectively.

The Montclair Board of Education honored outgoing school board members Deborah Wilson and Angelica Allen-McMillan during Monday night's meeting held at Montclair High School.

Wilson was a board member for nine years, from 2010-2013 and previously from 2001-2007, when she served as both president and vice president of the board.

In her remarks, she expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve Montclair’s public schools and gave a piece of departing advice.

Allen-McMillan said in her remarks she started out “very eager to give.”

“I was surprised at how much I received,” she said.

Their two seats will be filled by David Cummings and David Deutsch, who were recently appointed by Montclair Mayor Robert Jackson. Cummings and Deutsch will serve three-year terms.

Mayor Jackson also reappointed Board of Education President Robin Kulwin to a new three-year term.

The appointees will be sworn in at the board's reorganization meeting on Thursday, May 16, at 7:30 p.m., at the Atrium of the George Inness Annex, 114 Park St.
