Montclair Cop Helps Track Down Abandoned Dog: Police

The dog – which was wearing a blue collar with no identifying tags – was tracked down near Lackawanna Plaza, Montclair police said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A Montclair police officer helped to track down a dog that someone apparently “abandoned” in the township last week, authorities said.

According to the Montclair Police Department, a witness said they saw a person in a black vehicle abandon a dog in the area of Glenridge Avenue and Cloverhill Place on Aug. 23.

After the brown and white pitbull terrier was spotted wandering west on Glenridge Avenue, a Montclair officer caught up with it near the eastbound side of the Lackawanna Plaza parking lot. The dog – which was wearing a blue collar with no identifying tags – was found circling a set of donation bins, police said.

A Montclair township animal control officer took custody of the animal, police said.
