Montclair Cops Chase Down Man Who Stole Credit Cards From Gym: Police
Montclair police arrested a theft suspect after he led officers on a foot chase, authorities said.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair police arrested a theft suspect on Monday after he led officers on a short foot chase, authorities said.
According to the Montclair Police Department, an off-duty detective spotted Jaqwe Bogar, 31, of East Orange, on the corner of South Park Street and Bloomfield Avenue at 5:39 p.m.
The detective recognized Bogar as a suspect who was wanted in connection with thefts that took place at Retro Fitness on South Park Street. He was also wanted in other jurisdictions for similar thefts, police said.

Police attempted to stop Bogar in front of the YMCA, but he fled the scene, leading officers on a brief foot chase.
Officers caught up to Bogar and arrested him on Church Street, finding him in possession of a knife and multiple credit cards from different people – which were later determined to be stolen from the locker room at Retro Fitness, police said.

Authorities charged Bogar with obstruction by flight, two counts of receiving stolen property, refusal of fingerprinting, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
