Montclair Dance Festival Will Include Dozens Of Performances

The family-friendly dance festival will take place at Montclair State University on May 31.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A family-friendly dance festival will take place at Montclair State University on Saturday, May 31.

The Montclair Dance Festival – a day-long ticketed event presented by Freespace Dance – will include performances from New Jersey artists and ensembles. Up to 30 dance groups will perform during the day and 10 professional companies in the evening. Learn more here.

  • Outdoors at the MSU Amphitheater – 2 to 5:30 p.m., free (get tickets)
  • Indoor at MSU Kasser Theater – 7:30 p.m., $25 ticket (get tickets)

“Despite being home to 10 higher-level academic programs in dance, innumerable private studios, traditional and folk dance groups, and 40+ professional dance companies, New Jersey does not have its own dance festival,” event producers Donna Scro Samori and Lisa Grimes Arndt said.

“We believe it needs one,” they added.
