Montclair Dance Festival Will Include Dozens Of Performances

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A family-friendly dance festival will take place at Montclair State University on Saturday, May 31.

The Montclair Dance Festival – a day-long ticketed event presented by Freespace Dance – will include performances from New Jersey artists and ensembles. Up to 30 dance groups will perform during the day and 10 professional companies in the evening. Learn more here.

Here’s what to expect, organizers say:

• Outdoors at the MSU Amphitheater – 2 to 5:30 p.m., free (get tickets)
• Indoor at MSU Kasser Theater – 7:30 p.m., $25 ticket (get tickets)

“Despite being home to 10 higher-level academic programs in dance, innumerable private studios, traditional and folk dance groups, and 40+ professional dance companies, New Jersey does not have its own dance festival,” event producers Donna Scro Samori and Lisa Grimes Arndt said.

“We believe it needs one,” they added.

Festival sponsors include The New Jersey State Council on the Arts, CAPEZIO, Cornerstone Montclair, Montclair Local, Dance Works Studios, Michael Aiduss Studio, Amy Owens Team at Keller Williams, Paul Gold and Kate McDonough at Sotheby’s Prominent Properties, The Barrow House, CHAR Fitness Club, Rock Dance Collective, Yoga Mechanics, The MAX of Montclair.
