Montclair Library Seeks Immigration Stories For Local History Collection
Current and former residents of Montclair are welcome to participate.

Did you or your family immigrate to the U.S. in the past 60 years or so? The Montclair Public Library invites participants to share their stories of immigrating to Montclair as part of “Making History Together: Sharing the Immigrant Experience in Montclair.”
The project specifically focuses on the immigrant experience during the past 60 years in an effort to strengthen the library’s local history collection to reflect the diversity within Montclair’s community.

Stories can be submitted online or using a paper form, available at montclairlibrary.org/mht
Current and former residents of Montclair are welcome to participate. The materials submitted will become a permanent part of the library’s local history collection and will be available to the public for research. In addition, the library will offer public programs, workshops, and cultural events as part of this project. Check montclairlibrary.org/mht for details.

The library’s Local History Room has a collection of materials related to the history of Montclair, including archival collections, biography files and subject files, 13,000+ photographs, books, historic maps, The Montclair Times available online and on microfilm, city directories, and high school yearbooks. The Local History Room also has resources for property research such as tax records and deed abstracts. Please see Montclair History Online to learn more and view the photograph collection as well as other resources.
This project is supported by the New Jersey Council for the Humanities' Community History program with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The project’s advisory board includes representatives from local cultural and educational organizations.
