Montclair Ready For 2017 MLK Day Events

Events will be held at Union Baptist Church and in the MHS George Innes Annex Atrium. All are welcome to celebrate.

From Montclair: Fourth Ward Councilor Renee Baskerville will join Premier Dance Theater Director Shirlise McKinley for a Martin Luther King Day annual panel discussion. The topic will be “Living the Dream” and the event will take place Saturday, January 14, 7:00 p.m. at 180 Bloomfield Avenue, third floor, Montclair. The event is open to the public.

On Monday, January 16th 2017 at 7:30 AM in the MHS George Innes Annex Atrium, Please join the President of The Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Fund, Inc., Mr. Stanley White and the entire Board of Trustees, friends and community members, at the 28th Annual Scholarship Breakfast. This year's speaker will be The Honorable Assemblyspeaker Emeritus, Sheila Y. Oliver. This astonishing legislator has been lending her voice and vote to the call for just and equitable laws, serving in the NJ's General Assembly since Nov. 4th 2003. We are honored and excited that she will be joining us.

At 12 noon on the same day at the Union Baptist Church on 12 Midland Ave. in Montclair, join the Montclair African American Clergy Association (MAACA), Montclair Clergy Association (MCA), Montclair National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and the 4th Ward Collaborative in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Celebratory Program and Remembrance. This gathering is a time to reflect and rejoice for the life of Dr. Martin Luther, King, Jr.---prophetic leader, preacher, trailblazer and the conscience of the Nation during its most turbulent period. The celebration will include music, songs, dance, and a keynote address by Pastor Dr. Bernadette Glover, the Pastor of St. Paul's Baptist Church in Montclair.
