MONTCLAIR, NJ — Kerri McMahon, Sean Long and Yvonne Bouknight have apparently captured seats on the Montclair Board of Education, according to unofficial results from the Essex County Clerk’s Office.

A highly watched governor contest brought many Montclair residents to the polls on Tuesday. But there were plenty of other choices for local voters to make in the 2025 general election, including a school board race.

Five candidates competed for three open seats on the Montclair Board of Education. Terms last for three years. The candidates were Kerri McMahon, Milt Horowitz, Yvonne W. Bouknight, and Sean L. Long. Another candidate appearing on the ballot, Brian Fleischer, has withdrawn from the race.

With 100 percent of districts reported, here are the unofficial results from the Essex County Clerk’s Office:

  • Kerri McMahon – 11,403 votes (35.07%)
  • Milt Horowitz – 4,269 votes (13.13%)
  • Yvonne Bouknight – 6,874 votes (21.14%)
  • Sean Long – 7,689 votes (23.64%)
  • Brian Fleischer – 2,284 votes (7.02%)
