Montclair to Hold Jobs Lottery for Teens

The Township of Montclair Youth Summer Jobs Program will hold a lottery to fill 20 summer employment openings for Montclair resident youths ages 15 to 19.

The youth summer employment program will provide 10 hours of work per week for approximately four weeks at several locations, including the MESH Partners, Montclair Neighborhood Development Corporation – Montclair Green/Clean Team and Montclair Township Recreation and Community Services departments. The program begins July 23 and participants will be paid $7.25 per hour (minimum wage). Some positions will require working evening hours.
Young Montclair women and men interested in applying for the youth summer employment lottery must submit an interest form to the Township Manager’s Office—205 Claremont Avenue, 2nd Floor—by Thursday, July 12. Forms are available on the township website (www.montclairnjusa.org) and at the Township Manager’s Office. The random drawing will take place Friday, July 13 and drawing winners will be notified Monday, July 16.

The jobs program was first proposed at a recent Township Council meeting by Councilor Renee Baskerville.
