Montclair Woman Turns 100: ‘Pray, Love, And Have A Sense Of Humor’
A Montclair centenarian with a "lovely sense of humor" gets a happy birthday wish from her family.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — “Pray, love and have a sense of humor.” That’s the recipe for a long and happy life, according to a Montclair resident who turned 100 on Wednesday.
Emma Hazzard’s son, Reginald, recently reached out to Patch to wish his mother a happy birthday on behalf of his family.
The younger Hazzard said his mother was happily married to Henry Hazzard for 60 years. The couple gave birth to two boys: Reginald and Henry Jr.

“Mom loves children and they love her,” Hazzard said, pointing out that she was a Cub Scout den mother for several years and worked as a substitute teacher at Bergen Street school in Newark.
“She loves animals, especially our Doberman Pinchers,” Hazzard added.

“Born in Montgomery, Alabama, mom learned to cook delicious food, which I still enjoy, such as pineapple upside down cake and apple pear pie,” he recalled.
But what the “jokester” may be known for the most is her “lovely sense of humor,” Hazzard’s son says.
