Montclair's Stoop Time Program Returns
The successful "Stoop Time" program from the Montclair Health Department is coming back for a second session in March.

The Township of Montclair announced its highly successful program “Stoop Time” will be returning for a second session.
Stoop Time, sponsored by the Montclair Health Department, is a place for “mature” women to discuss the “ups and downs” of life with a small group of other women experiencing similar things. For example, some women may be enduring the loss of a significant other, loss of a job or may be dealing with adult children moving away.
Stoop Time was created by Leah Johnston-Rowbotham, MS, APRN, BC, the Township said.

“My own grandmother often discussed these issues on the front stoop while shelling peas” Johnston-Rowbotham said. “My mother had the stoop by the clothesline as she folded frozen towels and sheets in the late winter.”
While not an official intervention, Johnston-Rowbotham said these “stoop times” can help a person feel less isolated, increase cognitive activity, preserve memory and lift one’s mood.

Stoop Time will meet on Friday at 10 a.m., from March 16 through April 20. Sessions will be held at the Montclair Municipal Building, located at 205 Claremont Ave.
