New Buildings Will Create Jobs, Montclair State University Officials Say

Groundbreaking ceremony for $121 million project scheduled for Wednesday.

Montclair State University will create 1,500 new construction and support jobs with the construction of two new buildings, according to university officials.

MSU President Susan Cole will lead a ceremonial groundbreaking on the campus on Wednesday morning, signaling the start of the $121 million project. 

The two buildings include a new Center of Environmental and Life Sciences and a School of Business.

The project is partially funded by $94 million in state-funding awarded to the school in April. MSU received the most of any senior public or private institution from the $750-million “Building Our Future” Bond Act which was approved by voters in November. 

The buildings are slated to be completed in spring of 2015.
