MONTCLAIR, NJ — A hospital in Montclair recently opened a newly renovated cardiac catheterization lab, which will benefit patients in need of heart-related treatments and other medical procedures, administrators say.
Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center’s upgraded facility now features the Siemens Healthineers ARTIS icono: a “cutting-edge imaging system” that enhances the precision, safety and efficiency of minimally invasive cardiac procedures.
Here’s what the new equipment does, administrators said:

“At the core of the ARTIS icono system is a smart imaging technology called OPTIQ, which helps doctors see clearer images during procedures while keeping radiation exposure as low as possible. It automatically adjusts settings based on the patient and the angle of the scan, so doctors get the best possible view with the least amount of radiation. It also includes a feature that helps guide doctors through blood vessels more easily, making procedures safer and more efficient.”
The new system is designed to support a range of procedures, especially those involving the heart, blood vessels and certain types of cancer. Now, local patients won’t have to travel outside the area to get these types of treatments, administrators said.
“We’re opening access to advanced cardiac care right here in our community,” CEO Tim O’Brien said.
