Parents to Protest BOE's Strategic Plan, Montclair Council Meets at MSU This Week

Here are some of the stories we're working on and what's happening this week in Montclair. See you around!
The Montclair Board of Education will hold a public board meeting on Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the MHS Auditorium at 100 Chestnut St. See the agenda. A group of parents supporting Montclair Cares About Schools are expected to attend the meeting to protest the board's Strategic Plan. A petition has been created asking the BOE to defer adoption of quarterly assessments throughout the district.
The South End Business Improvement Subcommittees (Board of Directors, Arts, Beautification and Ordinance Compliance) will meet on Monday, at 7 p.m., at the Alfred Davis Chiropractic Wellness Center, 309 Orange Road. The subcommittees will to continue to formulate the structure of the board, share updates on potential tenants, discuss signage and window dressing ordinances, and continue discussions about "Center Stage" and upcoming events and activities, including a farmers’ market.

The Montclair Township Council will meet on Tuesday at the Alexander Kasser Theater on the campus of Montclair State Univeristy. The pre-meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and the regular meeting will start at 7:30 p.m. Free parking passes for the Red Hawk parking deck will be distributed at the meeting. See a draft of the agenda.
Studio Players is holding auditions Tuesday (callbacks Wednesday) for its fall production, "Noises Off," a play within a play.

The Montclair Film Festival will present a free screening of "Sleepless in Seattle" at Van Vleck House & Gardens on Friday at 8 p.m.
