'Racial Justice Awards' Spotlight Community Leaders In North Jersey
The YWCA Northern New Jersey recently honored several Garden State leaders who are helping to shape a "more just future."
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — The YWCA Northern New Jersey recently spotlighted several Garden State leaders who are helping to shape a “more just future” with its Racial Justice Awards.
The organization held its annual award celebration at the Montclair Art Museum this year, presenting 2025 Racial Justice Awards to the following people and groups:
- Assemblywoman Ellen J. Park, District 37 - The first Korean American woman elected to the NJ Legislature and a fierce advocate for marginalized communities.
- Kiran Handa Gaudioso, CEO of United Way of Northern New Jersey and President of United For ALICE - A driving force for economic equity and data-driven solutions to poverty.
- Latinos of Montclair - A nonprofit creating community and elevating the voices and visibility of American Latinos in the region.
- Mariekarl Vilceus-Talty - President and CEO of the Partnership for Maternal and Child Health of Northern New Jersey - Championing maternal health equity and culturally competent care.
- Brielle Winslow-Majette - Deputy Director of Garden State Equality - Advancing racial and LGBTQ+ justice through education, advocacy and legislation.
“In this pivotal moment for our nation, we are proud to recognize these bold and compassionate leaders,” said Helen Archontou, CEO of YWCA Northern New Jersey.
