Resident Finds Screen Door Ripped Open After Attempted Burglary

Montclair Police say homeowner heard noise at the side of her house in the early morning hours.

A resident of Appleton Place near Edgemont Park told police a burglar attempted to enter her house.

The incident was reported at 9:16 a.m. on Sept. 12., Montclair Police Lt./Det. Angel Roman said.

The homeowner reported she heard a noise on the side of her house at around 3:30 a.m. About 15 minutes later she said she heard a car pull up and a car door slam.

In the morning, she said she found the screen of her side door had been ripped open.

The burglar did not enter the home, Roman said.
