Residents Lose Power After Transformer Fire

Early morning fire near Upper Montclair Train Station during morning commute.

Montclair residents experienced sporadic power outages Wednesday morning due to a transformer fire near the Upper Montclair Train Station, Montclair Fire Department Chief Kevin Allen said.

The blown transformer knocked down a telephone pole which caught on fire around 6:15 a.m. during the morning commute, Baristanet reported.

The fire which occurred near Lorraine Avenue did not affect train service, Allen said.

No injuries were reported from the incident.
