Rumor Of ‘Danger’ At Montclair State University Deemed Non-Credible

A rumor made the rounds on social media involving the school. There is "no credible threat of violence at this time," authorities said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A social media rumor involving a potential “school shooting” at Montclair State University has been deemed non-credible, authorities announced Monday morning.

MSU administrators posted the following message about the incident:

“The university police department is investigating a rumor circulating on social media suggesting that the university is in danger of a school shooting today (September 15, 2025), and has found no credible threat of violence to the university community at this time.”

“Your safety is our highest priority, and we appreciate your partnership in keeping our campus safe,” MSU administrators added.
